The out on a limb event is a 2 kilo-meter annual awareness walk across several locations around the world simultaneously. It aims to bring the attention of society to the challenges faced by children with limb loss and persons with disabilities (PWDs) and the need to promote the inclusion and participation of PWDs across board.
The 2022 OOAL event is themed “Iredians” to promote the first ever disability comic book in Africa launched in 2021. The Iredians showcases the active leadership and participation of children with disabilities fighting against the discrimination of their peers.

A lead advocate is an individual that has committed and has been accepted to lead the out on a limb walk in an approved location. The lead advocate stands as a representative of the IREDE foundation in the location he/she leads. Everyone joining the walk in that location will contact the lead advocate for basic information such as venue, time, t-shirt logistics or any other matters concerning OOAL.
A volunteer is an individual who has volunteered to be a part of a Hospitality, Media and Traffic management team. The individual will participate in the walk by carrying out the duties of the team in which he/she has chosen to volunteer.
A participant is any individual who makes himself/herself available on the walk to walk a 2-km distance to raise awareness on the challenges faced by children with limb loss and persons with disabilities (PWDs) and the need to promote the inclusion and participation of PWDs across board. Participants are expected to purchase the Out on Limb T-shirt.
